Can I take my Theory and Hazard Perception Test anytime?

Before you take your Practical Driving Test you must have passed the Theory Test and Hazard Perception Test. (If you already hold a Full Licence in another category this may not apply). Theory Test Candidates have 57 minutes to answer 50 Test questions. To be successful you must answer 43 of these questions correctly.

The Hazard Perception Test consists of 14 video clips with up to 5 marks awarded for each hazard identified. To be successful you must score 44 marks.

The Test

The Test is conducted using a “touch screen” method where answers are selected from questions projected on to a computer screen. A practice session lasting up to 15 minutes is set aside for candidates to familiarise themselves with the system before starting the Test.

Your Instructor

Your Systematic Instructor will train, help and guide you through the Theory Test and Hazard Perception Test. We aim to ensure you pass the Theory Test and Hazard Perception Test without delay, allowing more time for your on road driver training.

Reference material

There is a DVD available from your Systematic UK Driving Instructor. The DVD includes example Test questions and a number of road safety clips supplied to practice with. You must Pass Both Parts of this Test at the one sitting in order to obtain a Theory Test Certificate. May we take this opportunity to wish you every success with your Theory and Hazard Perception Test.

Once you have obtained your Test date you will need to contact your Instructor where he/she will make the necessary arrangements for your Driving Lessons on a Block Booking system, to enable you to reach the required standard by the Driving Standards Agency.
